The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) is seeking an individual to join our team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a Health Information Management Specialist. This position works within a team to deliver quality record management outcomes. As the heartbeat of any healthcare facility, the individuals within this department bridge roles, connecting clinical, operational and administrative functions to all clientele. These professionals affect the quality of patient/client information at every touch point within the program while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity, confidentiality, and health information security
Customer Service Skills Using Microsoft Office or similar data entry system sufficient to enter data into specific fields, receive, review and compare source documents to database information including locating, identifying, and correcting data entry errors
Data Entry Performance Locate, update, and retrieve health information from a variety of databases
Database, Documents, and Records Management Skill sufficient to maintain electronic or paper files for efficient organization and retrieval of information, compile, research and analyze information from databases, and destroy records according to retention schedules.
Specialized Terminology Including medical terminology or coding sufficient to read, write and speak in the medical and health field.
Spreadsheets Spreadsheets skill sufficient to utilize spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel to enter, compile, store and retrieve data.
Typing/Keyboarding Skills using Microsoft Words or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner.

Those crossing Appointing Authorities may be required to successfully complete a physical assessment form, provide education documentation (high school diploma, GED, college transcript, or college degree) and provide documented proof of freedom from tuberculosis completed within the last year.
